Who I am

Ibrahima Balde is a 23-year-old graduate student at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ibrahima is the oldest of five siblings and takes pride in being a role model and support system for his family. He now lives just outside Philadelphia, where he helps take care of his loved ones while pursuing his academic and professional goals.

Ibrahima completed his undergraduate studies at Syracuse University, earning a degree in biology with a minor in computer science. While his academic background is rooted in the sciences, his curiosity, leadership and love for connecting with people and sports led him to explore a career in public relations.

Before coming to Newhouse, Ibrahima was actively involved on campus and in his community. He developed a strong interest in storytelling, branding and media strategy, especially as it relates to sports. His goal is to work in public relations for a professional sports team, ideally in Major League Baseball or the NFL, where he can combine his communication skills with his lifelong passion for sports.

Outside of school and career planning, Ibrahima enjoys watching and analyzing games, spending time with his siblings and staying connected to both New York and Philly culture. He brings to Newhouse a strong sense of purpose, a commitment to growth and a deep appreciation for the power of representation in sports media.
